The Best Childhood Poem

 The most beautiful and memorable poem written by my aunt for me during my childhood, it expresses her unconditional love and fondness for me! I was initially named Nadia by my maternal grandfather who is no more and I was lovingly addressed as ‘Nadu’ by everyone in the family. My childhood days and memories of my maternal hometown Hyderabad are deeply cherished and unforgettable!!!

A Beautiful Doll in the World
By: Nishat Abedi

Someone has a Baby Doll;
Someone has a Mona Doll;
Someone has a July Doll;
Someone has a Barbie Doll;
But I have a Nadu Doll;
A very sweet Doll!

If she dances flowers would dance,
If she sings weather would sing,
If she cries the leaves would cry,
As pearls roll from her eyes and mouth.
Only I have a Nadu Doll;
The sweetest and best doll of mine!

Proverbial Poems by Anonymous People

There are some beautiful poetic and metaphorical lines of sort of proverbial poems that I read on the net. However, their poets and writers are unknown to me. These lines and ideas are inspiring my poetic thoughts a lot and I would love to share them with everyone!!

Count your life by smiles,
Not tears.
Count your age by friends,
Not years.

Roses are red,
Pansies are pink.
Violet is blue,
Friends like you are very few!

Sun can sink.
River can dry.
You can forget me;
But never I!

Roses are red,
Sky is blue.
A monkey like you,
Must be a part of the zoo!

Hate me not,
Love me not,
And if possible;
Forget me not!

Three Things

Three things to respect;
Old age, religion, law
Three things to love;
Purity, honesty and hard work
Three things to admire;
Beauty, intellect and character
Three things to cultivate;
Courage, cheerfulness and contentment
Three things to avoid;
Smoking, drinking and gambling
Three things to control;
Tongue, temper and temptation
Three things to watch;
Speech, behavior and action
Three things to prevent;

Laziness, falsehood and slang

Another untitled poem on woman as a creation of God and his uniqueness:

What the gods took when they;
Created the first woman:
First they took the basic ingredients;
The cold of the snow on the
Mountain peaks.
The heat of the furnace in the
Heart of a volcano
The hardness of a diamond
The cruelty of a tiger
Then they tempered these with:

The gaiety of a sunbeam
The soft velvet of a rose petal
The playfulness of a feather in wind
The timidity of a hare
The gaze of a deer
Then they added:

The soft curves of the moon
The graceful lines of a vine
The suppleness of a snake
The fickleness of the winds
The vanity of a peacock
The cooing of a dove

And the talkativeness of a parrot!

Another untitled, spiritual and beautiful poem showing the significance of rose flower:

Roses mean remembrance;
So these are sent to show.
You’re thought of and remembered,
For more often than you know.
Remembered for the thoughtfulness,
So much a part of you,
And for the specialty you give.
To those who know you too.

Roses mean remembrance;
So these are sent to show.
You’re thought about;

And wished a world of happiness today!

The Bird and I

The Bird and I
  By: Samreen Zaidi

When I am fast asleep,
I hear a sweet song of a charming bird.
Then I am awake from my sleep,
And say "Good morning! Dear."
"Oh! How sweet you sing."
Making my heart and mind to hear.
What you sing I often wonder;
So thrilling and rejoicing!
In the morning of thunder.
You enjoy the beautiful morning flying around,
Humming to us your melodious song!

When the whole world is asleep,
Lost in dreary dreams,
Out you come and quietly peep.
How the dawn changes to morning,
And trees swing sweet and low!
Welcoming the bright morning,
Bidding farewell to the dawn light!

The Guiding Lamps
By: Samreen Zaidi

Teachers in my school and college life;
Always instilled a curiosity and a sense of pride.
Good books become friends from childhood;
Their meaning, knowledge and pictures so wonderful!

It is the greatness of parents and teachers only;
Respect and love that they command.
Help us to learn, read and write.
Showing the arenas and threshold of education,
With different subjects and knowledge distribution.

Subjects like English, Maths, Science, Physics and Chemistry,
And History always looking like a mystery.
Languages like Hindi, Sanskrit, French, Urdu, Arabic and Persian,

Having a new vocabulary to learn.

My wise and learned teachers,
From Arts, languages to the world of computers!
Religious teachings and values in life;
Always help greatly in achievements in life.

Schools and colleges are temples of education,
With parents and teachers as the best guardians.

The Best Blessing

The Best Blessing
 By: Samreen Zaidi

My Parents, my Guardians, my eternal Teachers.
Always radiating their shining light,
The Lamps of Knowledge burning bright.
Little toddlers and children as we in their fold;
With their warm shade and our tiny fingers they hold.

Parents are greatest gifts of God ever,
Their prayers and blessings remain forever.
After God, his apostles and messengers,
They are our only guiding light and helpers.

Parents are angels in disguise,
Their endless love and thoughts so wise,
The first Teachers in our life.

Knowledge and learning are perennial rivers;
Needed in life and grow wider.
When individuals began to learn;
New things and education needed to earn.

                                              An Inquisitive Mind
                                                   By: Samreen Zaidi

Start up to a new novel;
I am innocent and noble.
Too many riddles to solve;
Whole chaos completely involved.
Back to square once again;
Some things calm and some driving me insane.
Confused what I actually wanted;
Celebrations should be sweet or salted.
But truly I speak;
It’s as painful on its peak.
Where the hell am I heading;
Heart is scratched and needs mending.
Can anyone please pamper?
Loneliness constantly hampers.
Insomniac, I want to know;
Why does it happen with me so?
Lord! Please answer my only query;
Or at least send me a fairy.
Who can figure out who I am?
From this planet or an alien man.
Being a girl is a curse or boon;
Answer this very soon.
Does born as a female is a crime?
Then why a goddess is kept in a shrine.
